Business Report writes that the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) has warned that Rand Water should table “sober minded” increase proposals as it prepares for salary negotiations with the utility that will start on Thursday.
The union said in a statement that following extensive consultations with its members, it would demand a sliding scale increase including 18% for low earners, 15%for middle workers and 13% for high earners. The union would also demand a R3,000 housing allowance, an incentive bonus, 10 compassionate leave days per annum, five paternity leave days, a R300 cellphone allowance, a R300 increase in the firefighting allowance, and a 10%increase in the meal subsidy. Samwu also wants benefits enjoyed by other employees to be extended to workers at Rand Water Mpumalanga.
