TimesLive reports that President Jacob Zuma's nephew Khulubuse is making a last-ditch effort in the Supreme Court of Appeal to get out of paying R1.7-billion in Aurora debts relating to the destruction of the Pamodzi gold mines.
A month ago the court dismissed with costs a similar application by Aurora Empowerment Systems and ruled that there was no reasonable prospect of success in an appeal and no other compelling reason why an appeal should be heard. In the latest court papers Zuma said he had been "severely prejudiced" by the ruling and that his financial livelihood “will be demolished if the court a quo(lower court) order remains as it is at present." John Walker, attorney for the liquidators, said they would fight the latest court action. Terra Ndimane, one of the 5,000 miners who lost their jobs, accused Zuma of stalling.
