News24 reports that Nelson Mandela Metro residents on Tuesday suggested that prostitutes should be given a "work station" so as to avoid naked prostitutes ‘putting their bits on display’ around St George's Strand.
Speaking at a meeting at the NG Kerk in Bluewater Bay, residents called for more police visibility and offered their assistance to rid the area of crime. When Mayor Danny Jordaan addressed an intimate interactive meeting, residents laid out what their issues were ahead of the local government elections. One woman from St George's Strand pleaded with Jordaan to deal with the growing number of prostitutes in the area. She said: "They sell their bodies anywhere around here. Some even walk around naked. Naked, without a stitch of clothing on." Jordaan said he would look into the issue and come back to the community.
