IOL News reports that Cosatu has condemned the political killings of at least 12 ANC members in the lead up to the local government elections on 3 August.
The labour federation said these killings were against the spirit of candidates being able to contest the elections freely and fairly. It called for a high level investigation into these killings by a special investigation team. Cosatu also called on the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to engage with all political parties to adhere to the code of conduct signed for the elections.
