The New Age reports that cellphone network provider Vodacom has cautioned people against falling prey to scammers using the company's name to lure desperate job seekers.
Vodacom spokesperson Byron Kennedy said: "This appears to be a scam where, regrettably, Vodacom's good name is being used for dishonest purposes. In working out if a job opportunity is legitimate or not, ask yourself the following question: would a company like Vodacom publish an advert like this or ask me to do certain things?" This followed a Facebook post by Sinazo Nodlaba warning young job seekers about a man, going by the name of Thabo Terry and posing as a Vodacom employee, who claims he could help people find a job. Other people shared stories of how they were targeted by the same man offering them jobs.
