mtnEWN reports that mobile operator MTN was expected on Tuesday to meet with the Communications Workers Union (CWU) to determine whether its workers would go on strike.

Workers affiliated to the union are demanding that casual workers should receive permanent contracts, as agreed upon last year.  The union’s Aubrey Tshabalala said:  "We need MTN to revisit and also to adhere to its promises of the agreement that is in place in terms of making sure that every worker is converted into permanent position, and that every worker reaps the benefits as backdated to 2015."
