uasa thumb medium70 84Business Reports writes that the United Association of SA (Uasa) has warned that SA’s economic growth could be neutralised because of the Hawks’ probe into Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

On Tuesday, Statistics SA indicated that the economy grew by its most in six quarters as the mining and manufacturing sectors reversed sharp contractions due to an uptick in exports, meaning SA had missed a technical recession.  Uasa’s spokesperson Andre Venter commented:  “Unfortunately we expect all this otherwise good news to be neutralised by the Hawks’ targeting of Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.”  He added that any improvement to the economy would be for “nought due to the foolish actions of a few” and that this “sad state of affairs must be turned around with the utmost urgency so that South Africa can progress unhindered to the benefit of all its citizens.”
