Business Report writes that axed SA Post Office (Sapo) workers are hopeful the Minister of Telecommunications, Siyabonga Gcwele, will intervene after 288 workers were dismissed in June after going on strike for three days.
Over 50 members of the Influential Information and Communication Union SA (IICUOSA) gathered outside the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services in Pretoria on Tuesday. The union’s general secretary, Gibson Ramoadi stated: “The union is demanding for the return about 228 employees who were dismissed in 2016. This is not the first time we have requested the intervention of the ministry but it seems our plea has fallen on deaf ears. The department does not care what happens in the state owned entity.”
