ANA reports that nine people, including driver’s licence officers, administration staff and a driving school owner, have been arrested at three different driver’s licence testing centres in North West for fraud and corruption.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) said on Monday that the arrests followed an investigation which identified officials, clerks and civilians involved in the irregular issuing of driver’s licences. “The arrests were made following four months of investigation by the National Traffic Anti-corruption Unit in an operation called Operation Krockie,” spokesman Simon Zwane indicated. The investigation identified officials, clerks and civilians involved in the irregular issuing of driver’s licences at the Sannieshof driver’s testing centre, the Delareyville driver’s testing centre, and the Vryburg driver’s testing centre.” The nine were expected to appear in court on Wednesday. More suspects are being sought and expected to be arrested soon.”
